Hoboken taxes are likely going down an average of $400, fiscal monitor said
Fri, Oct 30, 2009
From HobokenNow:
Hoboken's fiscal monitor, Judy Tripodi, told Hoboken Now in an exclusive interview this morning that taxes are going down hundreds of dollars.

...
Many of the candidates running for mayor against acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer have said she has been holding back a draft of the budget until after the election to hide an increase in taxes.

But according to Tripodi, not only are taxes going down, but that it's not Zimmer's call as to when the budget is released. (This was reported by The Hoboken Reporter Wednesday.)

"Ultimately it's my decision when to release the budget," she confirmed with Hoboken Now today. "It's not ready to be released."

Asked why she couldn't release a preliminary draft, Tripodi said that wouldn't be a good idea.

"It's dangerous and it's unfair to the public to start leaking little bits and pieces," she said.

She said she expected to release the budget in about four weeks.
